so today i have stayed up so far til 6:30 AM, for basically no real reason at all!
it is enjoyable though. i've started work on this arrangement that i have to finish today, and i also started a new blog.

wow... that's all i've freaking done?? yeah, basically. oh well. i guess i'm gonna go to sleep now, cuz sunrise doesn't look like it's going to be particularly breathtaking.

so i just had this amazing idea for a band. i was listening to this ellington recording, of mood indigo, and it struck me that i would love to play that song. with like, a 4 piece horn section or something. maybe even 5 piece. get some really killin arrangements together, maybe some old tunes, maybe some new, just really beautiful harmonies and textures and really killin rhythms. something flexible... with someone who could play bass clarinet, too, cuz there ain't nothin better, yo.

anyway, so i'm gonna get an arrangement or two together, and then maybe get some cats together to read through them. see what happens from there.

i'm gonna link a video here (in 5 parts) that you may find interesting, if you haven't heard much from barack obama. it's about religion and politics, and how they interact and how he thinks they should interact. it's pretty amazing, but here's a line that just made me go "YEAAHHHHHHAHAHAHAHAAWESOME!!!":

hahahaha. oh man. this guy frickin rules.

my boss says it'd be great, but he won't be elected president (his argument is that we elected george w. bush, twice). i didn't used to be very political, but i kind of consider that a challenge.
so yeah! i'm on board. OBAMA 2008!
